Buffalo’s Below-Average Graduation Rate
While New York State’s high school graduation rate slightly increased in 2007, Buffalo’s graduation rate was less than 50%.
The percentage of students earning either a Regents or local diploma after four years was 68.6 percent in 2007, up from 67.2 percent in 2006 and 65.8 in 2005.
Locally, 36 school districts in Erie and Niagara Counties registered graduation rates higher than the state average. Only Buffalo, at 46 percent, and Lackawanna, at 67 percent, were below the state average.
Williamsville had the highest graduation rate at 94 percent, and Clarence, East Aurora, Eden, Iroquois, Lewiston-Porter and Wilson also had rates above 90 percent.
This is sad. Just sad.
